New organ for Our Lady of Victories Church, Kensington
Skrabl has been awarded the contract to build a new organ for Our Lady of Victories in Kensington, London. The new instrument for this magnificent Roman Catholic church will have 51 stops over 4 manuals and a specification inspired by the French symphonic tradition. The work is contracted to be completed by the end of 2019 and is eagerly anticipated. Further details will be published in due course.
The final specification of the four manual scheme will be based on a limited number of the best of stops salvaged from the previous organ, a substantial number of new stops and some other used but remodelled stops from other important Organs. The final specification will be a carefully devised French specification based largely on the work of Cavaille Coll. The specification is currently under development and will not be revealed until it is fully devised.
Messrs Skrabl have acknowledged experience in the interpretation of 19th Century French organ building. They are currently building a huge 109 stop organ for the Katowice Radio Symphony Concert Hall, again an organ built on the work of Cavaille Coll. It is an all new organ with many of the characteristics the sounds, the actions and pressures that define this celebrated builder.”
