TONALITY
The uniqueness of the Skrabl sound requires some explanation. On very many occasions, clients, organ technicians and organ advisers have been amazed by the extraordinarily different and magical sounds which have been created by Anton Skrabl in his recent organs. One adviser recently described them as 'Flutes to die for with an amazing translucence and Principals which seem alive and a refreshing change from anything I have so far encountered'.
Whilst it is not easy to generalise the sounds have been created by an imaginative departure from some established traditions and a willingness to experiment with new techniques. The flutes have a substantially larger scale than usual and contain some unique voicing ideas with surprisingly low cut-ups. Most importantly all the stops are prepared using planed metal produced in carefully regulated thicknesses to a prescribed formula unusual for most organ builders and almost unseen in England. Skrabl have just acquired a new planing machine of 2.5 metres in diameter capable of regulating the thickness of the material with an accuracy greater than 0.001mm.
The polished appearance of all the new pipework is simply a bonus and looks wonderful in display. |
