An organ scholar is being sought for the Parish Church of St Marylebone, London, which contains instruments by Rieger and Skrabl.

The scholarship is intended for an organ student wishing to further his /her experience in choral accompaniment, choir training and organ playing

It is likely it will be held in conjunction with a course of postgraduate or undergraduate study.

The scholarship will run for a year from September 1, 2022, and include involvement with St Marylebone CE School, a specialist arts college for music, drama and dance.

The successful applicant is expected to be a fluent player, with some experience of choral accompaniment and liturgical playing.

St Marylebone has a flourishing musical life which encompasses a 10-voice professional adult choir and a junior choir of children from eight to 14, plus recitals and concerts.

The main organ is a four-manual, tracker action instrument built in 1987 by the Austrian firm, Rieger. The church also houses a five-stop, two-manual Skrabl chamber organ, above, commissioned and built in 2021.

The scholarship stipend is £4000 per annum and short-listed candidates will be auditioned and interviewed on Thursday, February 10.

Further details may be found on the church website.
